DRUJBA GLASSWORKS S.A. has accomplished yet another achievement: Both its production sites (in Sofia and Plovdiv), have recently been awarded an ISO 14001: 2004 Certificate by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.

The ISO 14001 certification represents the Company’s response to the realized necessity for efficient actions that protect the environment from pollution. More and more often a functioning ISO 14001 systems is a client requirement.

What exactly is ISO 14001:2004? It is an international standard, which defines the requirements for the development and maintenance of an Environmental Management System. It defines rules and responsibilities with respect to the environment protection, monitors and controls relative processes, and evaluates their efficiency thereof. Such a system has been adopted by DRUJBA as part of the existing Integrated Management System.

What do we get accomplish through ISO 14001:2004? In a nut-shell:
· Efficiency Boost in the use of energy and raw materials (less waste)
· Improved Compliance Ability with environmental regulations
· Enhanced Employee Perception of key environmental issues, as well as Superior Company Image
· Dependence on a system rather than just the experience and capabilities of an individual to manage the environmental function of the Company.
Further to the above, both DRUJBA production sites had their ISO 9001:2000 certificates renewed for the next three years. What is the next step? The implementation of and certification under an OHSAS 18001:1999 - the International Occupational Health and Safety Management System, which is to be initiated in the beginning of 2007. We are striving for constant improvement!
